Via ferrata and water – an unforgettable combination
Via ferrata ‘Hias’ – in the wild and romantic Silberkarklamm
We personally love recommending the Hias via ferrata in the Silberkarklamm – it’s the perfect mix of movement, adventure, and stunning scenery! It’s only about 1.5 kilometers long, but it packs a punch with its varied and exciting route. Expect steeper rock sections, two suspension bridges, and a breathtaking backdrop right in the heart of the gorge. It’s also a great choice for anyone who may be new to via ferratas but is in good physical shape. 🙂
The approach:
Even the approach through the Silberkarklamm is an experience in itself: wooden walkways and ladders lead you through the narrow, roaring gorge.
Our tip for anyone who doesn’t want to tackle the via ferrata: keep hiking up to the Silberkarhütte! It’s a popular meeting point for both climbers and those who prefer to “just” hike.
Along the via ferrata route
Shortly after, you’ll reach the first suspension bridge – the entry point to the via ferrata. The route itself is compact, well-secured, and perfectly integrated into the natural terrain. It’s rated C/D, but there are several short walking sections and spots where you can take a break and enjoy the stunning views!

One more tip for hot days!
Right by the parking area – and therefore at the starting point – there’s a small reservoir where you can cool off your tired feet. 😊
