A Winter’s Tale
You wake up in your cozy hotel bed. A telltale shimmer of white glows through the curtains. Somewhere outside, a grooming machine hums softly. You throw back the covers, walk to the window – and there it is: fresh new snow, fallen overnight.
And the best part? The sky is already shining a clear blue, and the mountains sparkle in the first sunlight. If that’s not a promise of a perfect day on the trails!
So off you go: slip into your cross-country outfit, enjoy a relaxed breakfast, and then just a few steps across the parking lot – and you’re already at the trail entrance. That closeness feels like a small luxury every single time.
You start in skating style, your partner in classic. No problem – nearly the entire 220-kilometre network is double-tracked for both classic and skating. And most of the time, a winter hiking trail for walkers and horse-drawn sleighs winds its way alongside.
Today you’re heading for the Panorama Trail. You glide along wide loops all the way to the old mill in the front part of Ramsau. The sun sparkles, the peaks compete with the sky in brilliance – and you’re right in the middle, sliding through this white winter paradise.
At lunchtime, the Langlaufstube at Walcherhof beckons. After a relaxed meal and a sunny break, it’s just a short way back to the Pfeffermühle. There, you unwind from your sporty day in the sauna and warm water before reminiscing about your perfect winter’s day in Ramsau over dinner.

– We’ll book your cross-country ticket, the “Loipi,” directly onto your Winter Card. You even get a discount 🙂
– We provide brochures and trail maps so you can find your way around easily. The trails are also very well signposted.
– There are two cross-country skiing schools in Ramsau. Book a private or group lesson to learn or improve your skiing skills.

What would a day in the snow be without a well-deserved break? Along the trails, you’ll find plenty of places to stop for a cozy rest. The cafés and guesthouses are marked on the trail map – or just ask us for our personal recommendations 🙂
